Hello and Welcome

Lately as I have been out at different events or talking to people about photography it is interesting on some of the comments I have received… The number one comment I hear is…. I do not have a nice camera like yours or all I have is a Point and Shoot model.

First it is not the camera that makes the photographer or the picture it is a tool sometimes, a very dumb tool like a computer it only does what it is told to do… There some photographers who would disagree with that comment. The same was said about computers and look at today they are still a pain in the butt.

The true photographer is  the person behind the camera it is the person who is looking at their Interpretation of the scene before them  anyone can take a photo a snap shot; however the photographer composes the scene to be processed waiting for the right time …

I have told the people I talk with to read about Ansel Adams, Annie Leibovitz, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Art Wolf, to name a few.  I have suggested to get a National Geographic magazine look and study the photos speaking of point and shoot cameras one of the photographers for National Geographic uses a point and shoot camera when he climbs mountains to be honest it is easier to handle a point and shoot hanging several hundred feet off the ground on the side of a tall mountain.

Also I will suggest some web sites with very good information like http://www.picturecorrect.com there are many articles on how do this that and suggestions there is the http://www.digital-photography-school.com/  web site get on their mailing list each week sometimes more than once a week a newsletter is sent out with tips how to do shots with point and shoots and DSLR cameras how to control lighting the use of a flash contest.

A great forum site with a very strange name is the http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/ forum my brother a photographer as well sent it to me and I am now on their newsletter list they have talks people will upload photos for advice to improve my brother has submitted some there as well…

Every day one learns photography it is a continual challenge and education it will humble you if someone says he knows everything stay away from them because they don’t again read up about what Ansel Adams said about his work…

One of the most controversial arguments heated discussions in the photography world is WHICH CAMERA DO YOU USE OR SHOULD I GET!!!! The answer to that is easy; go to the store handle the cameras figure out which one feels the best then go home study the features of the cameras to see if they are what you are going to be needing then go from there…. I have used Nikon's Minolta now Sony Yashica and Canons each has served the purposed used at that time… I now use a Canon.

Actually I can take a photos from the above mentioned cameras including a point and shoot put those photos on the table side by side and you won't know which camera is which unless analyzed by NASA…

One suggestion I have with the cameras that will let you do so is to get out of the auto mode get into the manual modes learn by accident trial and errors experiment one can do more in manual than in auto second suggestion get a Flash unit that can be taken off the camera there are great advantages to this…..
